Daily Debate: Which Zelda Locale Would You Want to Spend Your Winter Vacation at?
Posted on December 23 2020 by Emi Curtis
As I stare at black ice on the roads outside and wonder why people who live in the mountains still struggle to drive in snow, I find myself drifting off dreaming of being in other places. To live in a reality where mid-morning traffic isn’t a thing and going snowboarding is as easy as grabbing a Hylian Shield and taking a leap of faith. There is no shortage of wintery venues throughout the Zelda series, but which exactly would you want to go to with a precious escape from reality?
Going over our options, a number of sites come to mind for the sake of vacationing. Snowpeak Mountain from Twilight Princess perhaps? Mayhaps a nice stay in the Hebra Region of Breath of the Wild? There are also some smaller more intimate locales like the Ice Palace of A Link to the Past, or maybe Ice Ring Isle in the Great Sea of Wind Waker? Not too bad once you beat the puzzle inside inexplicably stopping the snowstorm there forever for some reason. Does solving puzzles cause global warming? A mystery for a different article.
As far as I go, I think I would look into Majora’s Mask‘s Snowpeak for my own vacation. As we can see when Goht isn’t inflicting an endless snowstorm of death, the mountains are quite gorgeous. Beautiful luscious green springs mixed with beautiful white glaciers makes for a beautiful picturesque landscape to behold. Plus, when I’m tired of simply enjoying the sights, I can cross on over to the Goron Racetrack and put my rupees on Rolling Thunder only to watch him get beat by some guy named Darmani who was apparently dead last week but came back mysteriously. After all that, I can climb the bizarrely long ladder with dead ends in it to go enjoy a late night dip in the hot springs. A beautiful vacation if you ask me.
What do you think? Where would you want to spend a winter vacation in Hyrule? Do you think the Goron Races are rigged? Let us know in the comments below!
