The games in the Legend of Zelda series are some of the greatest games ever created, often receiving perfect or near-perfect scores from fans and critics alike. Many consider the games in the series as untouchable and can’t even bear the thought of a remake, re-release or remaster. Over the years, though, Nintendo has shown that they are willing to re-visit classic masterpieces to allow new generations the opportunity to experience them, as well as give the games the added boost that modern technology often provides.

From Majora’s Mask and Ocarina of Time, both re-released on the Nintendo 3DS, to The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, which both saw HD remakes on the Wii U, several games in the Zelda series have been revisited and refined. Not to mention the complete remake and reimagining of Link’s Awakening that came out on the Switch last year.

Due to the success that comes with each release in the celebrated series, there is no question that Nintendo will continue this trend to revisit previous games on new hardware. Given that The Legend of Zelda is celebrating its 35th anniversary next year, we may be closer to a remake than we are to the highly anticipated sequel to Breath of the Wild. But what game will Nintendo revisit next? And will it be a straight port with some updated graphics and refined plot elements, like The Wind Waker? Or will it be a complete remake with a new art style and aspect ratio, similar to Link’s Awakening?

Personally, I would love to see Grezzo, the team responsible for last year’s re-release of Link’s Awakening to take a crack at another handheld Zelda game. My history with the Zelda series starts with Ocarina of Time, and though I’ve tried to revisit older games in the series, I keep getting drawn back in to the newer, 3D entries. But I absolutely loved Link’s Awakening and would relish the opportunity to experience some of Link’s earliest adventures from a modern perspective. The Minish Cap or the Oracle games combined as one could be a great game to play for the first time, reimagined for the Nintendo Switch. Or even a remake of the very first Zelda game, The Legend of Zelda. It’s been 35 years, after all.

What do you think? Which game would you like to see Nintendo revisit next? Let us know in the comments below.
