I love the Zelda series for its immense adventure, unique puzzle challenges, and various storylines. Most of the time, I find them to be quite easy with some difficulties thrown in; games like Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask, I can play with absolute confidence. Meanwhile, there are others I will not play again because the struggle was not worth it.

When I was young, I had trouble with Zelda II: The Adventure of Link for the Game Boy Advance and it’s the main reason I refuse to replay this game today. It didn’t matter if I was in a dungeon or had an encounter with enemies; when I died, I rage quit. The Adventure of Link gave me stress and I admit it’s because I lacked strategy and skill. I was the type of player that barged in and thought about tactics later, but it was often a lesson learned when I received a game over every few minutes. This game taught me the art of patience–while ruining my teenage life. I found enjoyment with the music and 8-bit graphics; however, once defeated–I never wanted to see this game again.

Now, aside from Zelda II, I am very good at most Zelda games, but recently I noticed a conflict with Oracle of Seasons! Perhaps my skills are disappearing because of my old age, but I don’t remember dying so much when I first played this when it was released. I was in such a state of shock that I quietly lowered my 3DS screen and put the game away. I will continue my playthrough eventually, when the stars align in my favor, and the universe omits my bad luck.

Are there any Zelda games that gave you trouble? Have you replayed them again? Share your struggles in the comments below!
