The Legend of Zelda has been a staple series in the lives of many gamers, including mine. My first Zelda game was Ocarina of Time, but it’s not the title that defined my childhood. The Zelda game that takes that prize for me is The Wind Waker.

When my brother and I received our GameCube for Christmas, it opened up a new world of games that we could rent from Blockbuster. I remember seeing The Wind Waker’s golden box on the shelf and we were both familiar enough with Zelda games that we chose to rent it for weeks and weeks! It’s so memorable because it was one of the games that we bonded over the most, and it’s still one of our favorites to this day! My brother and I still talk about the game’s music and how he basically played more of the game than I ever did!

The Wind Waker defined my childhood and without it, I probably wouldn’t be the huge Zelda fan that I am today. It is easily my favorite Zelda game because of such sweet memories (I’ll save my other musings about the game for another post). I’m sure that everyone has a game or games that shine through their youth and this is one of mine.
