Although the Zelda series has never exceeded a ‘T’ ESRB rating, that doesn’t mean the games lack some oftentimes spooky moments, and it certainly has some downright creepy enemies that might keep children up at night. With Halloween coming up, let’s discuss which Zelda enemy we find to be the scariest.

ReDeads have always freaked me out, especially the ones in The Wind Waker. It was a combination of their glowing red eyes, and how graphic their attacks were– it always looked like they were biting Link!– that would give me nightmares! In Ocarina of Time they also latched onto Link, but you couldn’t tell they were biting him. Aside from that, I felt more confident facing a ReDead in Ocarina of Time because I knew I had a definite way to stun them. With ReDeads in The Wind Waker, I only knew they could be stunned by either direct sunlight, or instantly killed with the light arrows. Since the majority of ReDeads are located in the Earth Temple, using the Mirror Shield was the only option I knew about to stun them; it wasn’t until many years later that I found out the Skull Hammer also stuns the ReDeads. Needless to say, I saw ReDeads attacking Link a lot, and each time the scene made my skin crawl!

So, which Zelda enemy was the creepiest to you? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
