The Legend of Zelda has a plethora of different stories and journeys for the player to explore. The massive, detailed worlds within the games of the franchise make for a surreal experience. These experiences forge memorable times regardless of which title you’re playing.  Among those narratives exist a vast range of video games’ most outlandish characters. Remember Groose? Who can forget that hair?

Sometimes, these characters can be relatable and bring out emotions for those of us deeply invested into the story. Take Fi from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, for example. Her journey with Link is a long, yet memorable trek with some of the most fearsome opponents we’ve seen so far in the Zelda series. Through these events, we see Fi transition from what seems like a lifeless robot to someone that genuinely seems to care about Link. I mean, if I was to travel across a land with someone while facing my strongest hardships, I’m certain a bond would grow with that individual. We see it all the time in shows and movies, and we always understand this because we can relate to it.

I also love Ezlo from The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap. He’s the perfect example of someone who just needs a little bit of help, and that ends up turning into an amazing friendship/companionship with a touch of adventure. This usually happens in most Zelda games; but with Ezlo, it seems more like two friends hanging out and exploring Hyrule than in any other game. Everyone knows what it’s like to have that friend you go on adventures with!

To me, one of the most relatable characters in the series is Zelda from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Her character arc in the story is incredible. Through the course of the game, she goes from being powerless and doubtful to being Hyrule’s sole protector for a century. However, it was also easy to relate to a doubtful Zelda. Her sadness and frustration really hit a note with me, and I felt it on a personal level. It was something that sat heavy with me, since I understood how she felt in a way.

All of these characters have different effects on everyone. Someone may cry during a specific cut-scene, while others will just skip it. Some people may like a specific character, while others may detest any screen time they may have. Regardless, the experience is yours to have. So, which Zelda characters do you relate to? Why do they stick out to you? Let us know what you think and talk about it with us below!
