For Ghost Week, we at Zelda Informer are going over the dark and scary aspects of the Legend of Zelda series. And what better way to do that than to take a look at the iconic ghosts in the franchise, the Poes?

Having appeared in eleven games throughout the franchise, starting in A Link to the Past, Poes are some of the more well-known and classic enemies of the series. Their most well known appearance involves glowing eyes hidden in the hood of a cloak. Most games has a slight twist on this appearance, with others opting  to change the look entirely. Their weapons are typically either scythes or, more commonly, lanterns. As enemies based on ghosts, these creatures typically inhabit graveyards or dungeons with a dark theme; there are exceptions to this rule, however, such as the Big Poes of Hyrule Field in Ocarina of Time. Some of the most well-known Poes in the series are the Poe Sisters in the Forest Temple in Ocarina of Time and the four Poes in Arbiter’s Grounds in Twilight Princess.

Which version of the Poe is your favorite? Do you like the well-known classic look of the ones in Ocarina of Time, or maybe the goofy-looking Poes in Wind Waker? Perhaps you prefer the intimidating variation that appears in Twilight Princess. Whatever your preference is, leave your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
