Daily Debate: Which Incarnation of Ganon is the Scariest?
Posted on October 21 2019 by Heather Beard
Spooky season is upon us, and it seems like a great time to discuss the evil of all evils in the Zelda universe, Ganon. Ganon has taken on many forms, but one thing has stayed the same; he can be a scary guy. From his need for power and doing anything to get it, to his terrifying porcine or dark beast forms, he can be pretty terrifying! So which incarnation is the scariest?
In my opinion, the Ganondorf of Twilight Princess is the most terrifying. My close runner up would beĀ Ocarina of Time Ganondorf due to his incredibly scary dark beast form, and an honorable mention would be Breath of the Wild 2 Ganondorf. I don’t like zombies…
Twilight Princess era Ganondorf is scary for reasons beyond transforming into a beast. His true intentions were revealed and he was supposed to be executed by the sages. He’s a dangerous man, and when his execution failed, he was sealed in the Twilight realm. While among the Twili he is able to influence Zant, and merely uses him to escape the Twilight. This incarnation is able to possess Princess Zelda and use her as a puppet against Link. He also takes on a beastly form and it is scary looking, (though I will admit not as scary as Ocarina of Time)!
Link and Ganondorf eventually face off, and that fight seems like it would be pretty frightening to me. Here’s this beast of a man who is a literal powerhouse. He’s cunning, possesses a fair amount of wisdom on how to manipulate others, and gets very far in his conquest to take over Hyrule. I’ll keep saying it, the dude is downright scary!
So what do you think? Which incarnation of Ganon is the scariest to you? Sound off in the comments below!
