Daily Debate: Which Character from Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is the Most Misunderstood from a Gameplay Perspective?

Last week, we published a Daily Debate asking readers which characters from Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity they actively avoided using during their playthrough. While the responses we received certainly showed that all players have their favorites and least favorites, they also demonstrated just how diverse Age of Calamity‘s roster is and how much work the developers at Koei Tecmo put in to cater to every type of player.
Even some of the most frequently dismissed characters in Age of Calamity have hidden gameplay potential just waiting to be unlocked, especially as players experiment with the right Weapon Fusing options. For example, Princess Zelda’s Sheikah Slate build can reportedly be quite effective at tearing down boss characters’ defenses with a clever combination of regular attacks and Rune abilities. Teba can be equally as deadly if equipped with a properly leveled bow with multiple midair damage seals. And even Hestu has some truly heavy-hitting combos and can reportedly stun-lock certain bosses!
Upon reviewing the responses to last week’s debate, I was surprised how many players avoided Revali during their playthroughs. The Rito sharpshooter was one of my favorite characters for the first few chapters of the game, as he was very adept at crowd control and he could very quickly fill up his Special Attack Meter. Plus, Revali was an absolute lifesaver during Hair-Width Trials!
When all is said and done, Age of Calamity‘s diverse roster is perhaps one of its greatest strengths. Every character has an admirable set of skills, especially for those players who take the time to identify and master them. Which character from Age of Calamity do you think is the most misunderstood? Where does your favorite character excel? How has Weapon Fusing and training helped you master each character?
