Daily Debate: Which Breath of the Wild Dish Would you Cook For a Potluck?
Posted on November 26 2020 by Emi Curtis
“What’s for dinner?” It’s one of the most pervasive questions asked throughout human history; one whose answer can elicit all manner of reactions from groans, to cheers, to outright debate. And when it comes to food, there’s no better entry in Zelda to look to than Breath of the Wild for salivating delicacies (and perhaps a couple of less-than-appetizing examples too). So the question is, which would be the best to bring to a potluck to impress your friends, family, and coworkers?
The meals in Breath of the Wild run the gamut between basic curries and stews, all the way up to the decadent Seafood Paella and Poultry Pilaf; so one is not short of options in considering this question. There are a lot of things to consider in deciding the perfect potluck meal though. The ideal potluck meal is one that can feed a lot of people and is relatively easy to split into much smaller portions; not to mention, you’re going to need to transport the whole thing to wherever the party is. To this end, individualized meals like the Salmon Meuniere aren’t gonna work here (sorry Genli, perhaps another time), and something massive like the Gourmet Meat and Rice Bowl is probably pushing it just a bit.
As far as I go, my money is on one of the simpler items in the repertoire: the Meat and Mushroom Skewers. They have the advantage of being easy to transport and easy to distribute to a lot of people, and they have a bit more variety than the simple Meat Skewers. Ideally, I’d perhaps use some Goron Spice to make sure the meat’s got a nice kick to it, but sticking strictly to the basic recipes, that’s got my bet. Perhaps I’d also add some Veggie Rice Balls with them to make sure my vegetarian friends are covered. There are a lot more options than that though.
What do you think? Which Breath of the Wild dish would you cook for a potluck? Would you be more likely to opt for a soup or seafood option? Or would your options change if you could combine different meals? Let us know in the comments below!
