The 2010s will likely be remembered as one of the most important decades of my life. Within that time, I graduated from both high school and college, got my driver’s license, my first job, my first apartment– lots of ups and downs. Suffice it to say, I learned a lot about life. More importantly, though, these past ten years saw the release of a ton of Zelda games!

Indeed, despite its near-33-year run, this franchise is seemingly more active than ever. From mainline entries, to remakes and spin-offs, we’ve certainly seen our fair share of adventures. It hasn’t just been the games themselves, either– the pre-release buzz and speculation surrounding each subsequent entry is a ritual all its own.

For me, the 2010s are overflowing with fond memories tied to this series, but there are three in particular that stand out. As someone who once ran a site called WantMidnaBack.com, I was amazed when the Twilight Princess herself was announced as a playable character in Hyrule Warriors. The fact that Nintendo made a point to drop this announcement during E3 2014 made it all the more momentous.

Speaking of which, getting the chance to attend E3 for the first time in 2016 and play Breath of the Wild was incredibly surreal. Despite all of the other games that were on the show floor that year, it seemed as though everyone’s attention was on Link’s latest adventure. Honestly, I’d never seen such palpable excitement toward Zelda firsthand.

Lastly, being brought on as an editor for Zelda Dungeon in 2015 was a dream come true. Since joining the team, I’ve not only been able to keep myself active as a writer, but have also met so many wonderful people. Here’s to many more years of Daily Debates!

What has been your fondest Zelda-related memory of this decade, though? Simply playing a particular game for the first time, meeting new friends on a Zelda forum, or getting caught up in the hype cycle of the next big release? Let us know in the comments below!
