With the release of its new DLC, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is having a bit of a renaissance right now. People have been rushing online to play the eight new courses that were released on March 18th. While Mario Kart 8 Deluxe mainly has characters from the Super Mario Bros. series, the games does include representation for some other Nintendo franchises like The Legend of Zelda, Animal Crossing, and Splatoon. For the The Legend of Zelda series, the game has Link as a playable racer, as well as a Hyrule Castle themed course titled “Hyrule Circuit”.

With Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in mind, what are some locations in the Zelda series that you would like to see as new Mario Kart courses? Overall, there are a wealth of great locations could make interesting Mario Kart courses. If you would like an interesting water-themed track, a course based around Zora’s Domain from Breath of the Wild could be an interesting idea. The raceway could be made from that beautiful blue stone that is seen throughout the town and surrounding cliffs. The track could include a section based around the cliffs around Zora’s Domain (complete with a glider component), underwater sections in the lake around the town, and then a trip through Zora’s Domain itself.

Some other locations I would like to see Mario Kart courses built around include Gerudo Valley and a Sheikah/Divine Beast. Gerudo Valley is one of the most iconic locations in the series, and it would be amazing to see the location recreated or remixed for Mario Kart. Additionally, I would love a Mario Kart 8 Deluxe remix of the music of “Gerudo Valley”.  A Sheikah or shrine-themed course would have an interesting aesthetic, with a vivid blue glow lightning up the raceway. There could be guardians who shoot lasers as at various places around the course, or guardians that scuttle across the track at certain point. If not a shrine-themed course, then perhaps there could be a Divine Beast track that changes every lap, which would fit the flexibility these dungeons have in Breath of the Wild.

What do you think? What are some locations or areas in the Zelda series that you would like to see as new Mario Kart courses?
