At Termina’s hour of need, four giants from the map’s four corners came together, somehow able to just hold back the terrifying moon that promised the end of days. But who were these giants? What exactly are they? If everything and everyone is a parallel version of someone or something from Hyrule, what does that make the giants?
We’re told by Anju’s Grandmother in a story that Termina was once one land, protected by the four, ultimately parting to protect the people while laying dormant at each of the compass’s four corners. It’s for this reason I see them as entities that live only in the realm of Termina, the lands own deities, removed from the three Golden Goddesses.
Perhaps they’re an incarnation of the goddesses, an extra giant thrown in for good measure. Perhaps the world of Termina isn’t just a parallel world, but is indeed a purgatory for Link, as is so often theorized, with these giants standing tall in this strange, bizarre world.
But what do you guys think? Do you think these giants belong only to Termina? Or did they have a parallel counterpart in Hyrule? Let us know in the comments below!
