It’s hard to believe that two months have passed since nearly two dozen of our staff members congregated in a basement with twelve monitors, hundreds of cords, and far too many jelly beans. From July 24th to 31st, the Zelda Dungeon team and the dutiful audience members who watched on Twitch worked together to raise a total of $14,051 USD for charity. The non-profit organization we raised money for, called Game to Grow, utilizes video games as therapy to help people with mental conditions such as depression, anxiety, and autism.

The Zelda Dungeon Marathon that was put on this year was done so for a great cause, but that doesn’t mean it was at all times a serious and professional event. On the contrary, ZDMX was a week full of fun and games, full of laughter and family, and full of a unique togetherness that could only be brought about by a group of people united by the Zelda series. We all came together, playing almost every Zelda game in existence over the course of a week, and the results were more than we ever could have expected. By the end, we were absolutely blown away by the amount we raised.

One of my favorite parts was staying up for the tag-team long play of Skyward Sword. Although it was more than obvious how tired everyone was, our mistakes because of our fatigue were enjoyable and hilarious.

What was your favorite moment? How much of the marathon did you get to watch? Have you gone back into the archives to watch anything you missed? Let us know in the comments below!
