Link has donned many different outfits throughout the history of the Zelda franchise. However, Breath of the Wild arguably had the greatest variety to alter Link’s appearance. Its special themed outfits designed for each area, such as the Snowquill outfit and the Gerudo set, and its call-backs to previous apparel from other Zelda characters such as Tingle and Midna, which you got through Amiibo and the DLC, offered extra variety to the game. The special buffs, such as cold-immunity or heat-immunity, made the many different options more interesting than just aesthetic.

However, there are some pieces of clothing that were left out that could have fit the game’s world. One in particular that I would have liked to see was the Pegasus Boots from several previous games in the series, such as A Link to the Past and Four Swords Adventures. They could’ve potentially given Link an indefinite speed boost while wearing them, or perhaps increased his stamina during sprinting. Or, wouldn’t it have been cool to dress up as a Yiga? Maybe a Yiga set could’ve been obtained after going through their hideout. A set like that could have deterred them from attacking Link, perhaps. Aside from specific pieces such as those, it could have been nice to see certain other buffs obtained from other outfits, such as something that kept Link more grounded after getting hit by an enemy, instead of being launched away and rolling around with his ragdoll physics. And with the ridiculously large variety of outfits in Triforce Heroes, and with the existence of the Salvager Set, Rex’s outfit from Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Nintendo could have made Link dress up however they wanted him to. They could have given him Mario’s outfit and allowed him to jump higher while wearing it if they wanted to, but I suppose that wasn’t part of the plan.

So, what do you think? What outfits would you have liked to have seen in Breath of the Wild, and what sort of buffs should they have given? Leave your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
