If we don’t get Breath of the Wild 2 news soon, will our discussion falter? It better not! Jokes aside, there is something I realized about Breath of the Wild’s map: when you view the map in-game and move the cursor up until it reaches the top of the map, it pretty much hits the top of the screen. However, when you move the cursor down until it hits the bottom of the map, it doesn’t hit the bottom of the screen and there’s still some unknown dark space left (see featured image). This, combined with videos of people going out of bounds in the game, began to make me think that more land should have been added to the south, or there soon will be land to the south.

Looking at series producer Aonuma’s ambiguous E3 2021 trailer quote, “expanding to the sky and even beyond that,” it really made me think that the map we once knew in Breath of the Wild was part of a greater whole. I also believed that the original plan for Breath of the Wild was to have more land to explore, but was cut due to the delays, the Switch launch, and the DLC ideas becoming too large, etc. I was then led into wondering what type of land can be added and expanded further upon the original Breath of the Wild map. I am definitely sure that there will be more area to the south due to that map secret I mentioned earlier. This southern map expansion could have a desert coast and more ocean to explore, which means a “Great Sea” could return, with the map expanded to the south and east. I know many fans are desiring sea travel to return, and we might actually get that.

To really get into a wishlist, there are some actual returning regions I would like to see and become remade to fit into the world of Breath of the Wild for its sequel. I think if the desert were to be expanded significantly to the west, which I think it will, we could get the region of Ikana to return. This would make sense of the “darker” vibe that the sequel is supposed to have, and would be a nice treat for longtime fans of this creepy and mysterious land. Perhaps the Yiga relocated across the desert to this region, as well as those who were a part of Astor’s tribe with more mysteries as well. For an even greater wish, add the other regions of Termina even further past Ikana to match its geography with The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. Finally, I would like a larger snow and icy region to the north of the map with many more tribes and villages. Imagine the Snowpeak region from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, but a lot more vast.

What would you like to see added or expanded? Do you like these ideas? Let us know in the comments below!
