We all know the standard spread of items that typically appear in Link’s arsenal. Items like the bow and bombs have been a staple since The Legend of Zelda in 1986. The Hookshot, first introduced in A Link to the Past, is an item that has been has been repurposed again and again to take on different names like the Longshot in Ocarina of Time or the Double Clawshots in Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword. From hammers to boomerangs to ocarinas (sometimes designated flutes) Link seems to have some necessities when it comes to saving Hyrule.

Yet, some Zelda games have items that are unique to that game, and that game alone. Twilight Princess, in fact, has plenty of items that haven’t reappeared in a main series Zelda game since. The Ball and Chain is one of them, first acquired when Link defeats a Darkhammer in Snowpeak Ruins. Although the item appears in the spin-off Hyrule Warriors as a callback, it still remains a one-off item in the main series, along with the Dominion Rod and the Spinner, both also from Twilight Princess.

Personally, I would like to see a return of the Beetle from Skyward Sword. There were some instances in playing Breath of the Wild where I missed the ability to look ahead in the way the Beetle allowed me to previously. Although the puzzles in Breath of the Wild had an advantage to being faced head-on, the added strategical advantage of snooping around beforehand was something I loved in Skyward Sword.

Because some items like the Deku Leaf from The Wind Waker and the Remote Bomb from The Minish Cap saw their first return to the series in Breath of the Wild, maybe we’ll see some one-offs in Breath of the Wild 2. What do you think? What item do you most want to see? What do you think could work best in Breath of the Wild 2? Let us know in the comments below!
