The Great Deku Tree has been seen in a few games across the Zelda series. He’s first seen in Ocarina of Time, followed by The Wind Waker, and most recently in Breath of the Wild. The Deku Tree is a wise, fatherly figure that protects the forest and it’s inhabitants around him. In Ocarina of Time, the tree is worshipped by the Kokori, while in The Wind Waker and Breath of the Wild, the koroks are the ones that call the great tree “home.” The Deku Tree has seen some stylistic differences across time, but which of those styles is your favorite?

Personally, The Great Deku Tree featured in Breath of the Wild is my favorite. I think the setting of the tree being surrounded in a secluded forest is befitting of such a sagely creature. I also love the addition of the cherry blossoms that adorn his branches. It seems like the tree is in a far more special place than the Forest Haven or Kokori Forest. You kind of have to get yourself lost in order to find the wisdom of the tree. I also think that this version of the Deku Tree is the wisest of them all. Breath of the Wild painted a very beautiful version of a long time character in the series, and that’s why it’s my favorite!
