Daily Debate: What is Your Favorite Funny Zelda Moment?
Posted on September 16 2019 by David Nystrom
There is no shortage of humorous moments in the wide world of Zelda. From hands in the toilet asking you for PAPER, to the ridiculous nature of the Groosinator, and to, well… Tingle. Nintendo always seems to find a way to make us laugh at least once in a Zelda game, so the question today is, what’s the funniest moment you can think of from the series?
For me, I think of the The Wind Waker and poor old Link being launched not once, not twice, but three times throughout the game. When he’s first hurled into the Forsaken Fortress by Tetra and her crew, I laughed so hard and still do. His progression of, “Let’s do this!” to “Wait, what?” and finally, “What have I done?!“ is so great. Then of course he’s literally thrown out of there by the Helmaroc King. The last time is after he places the last of the Goddess Pearls in the final statue and it explodes, propelling him all the way to the wall of the rising Tower of the Gods.
I think those moments are priceless. They work with the cartoony art style, Link’s general goofiness throughout that game, and to break up what could be a very serious story. I mentioned a few other humorous moments, but for me, this one takes the cake.
What about you? Do you have a funniest moment from the Zelda series? Perhaps there was one that made you just shake your head at how ridiculous it was? Let us know in the comments below!
