Dungeons have always played a major part of every Zelda game. Dungeons can range from the ever-so-simple, to the mind-boggling, rage-quitting disaster. A lot of traditional dungeons in Zelda games have been patterned after a theme, most themes being elemental in nature. So for today’s Daily Debate I’d like to ask, what is your favorite dungeon theme?

My favorite theme would be a forest theme. Some of my favorite dungeons include Forbidden Woods and The Wind Temple from The Wind Waker, Woodfall Temple from Majora’s Mask, and The Forest Temple from Twilight Princess. All of those dungeons are just fun! I love all of the different gimmicks that play on forest elements in those dungeons. For instance, in Woodfall Temple you traverse the dungeon in Link’s Deku Scrub mask. It all leans in and plays well together. Forbidden Woods makes great use the Deku Leaf item in The Wind Waker, it’s also a dungeon where you have to rely heavily on having enough magic to get through. The dungeons I mentioned also play heavily with wind elements to help you get through. Along with vines and climbing – it makes you feel like you’re part of the vast expanse of trees. Maybe I also like these dungeons because all of the greenery and my favorite color is green. I don’t know, but something about the forest themed dungeons make them very iconic to me. I felt kinda sad to not have had a forest-type dungeon or element in Breath of the Wild. I guess you could say Lost Woods, but that would be a big stretch in my book.

As much as I enjoyed the Divine Beasts in Breath of the Wild I do hope that we see a return to some traditional style dungeons in Breath of the Wild 2. Which means I hope we see the return of a classic themed dungeon like the forest theme.

What are your favorite dungeon themes? Do you hope to see themed dungeons in Breath of the Wild 2? Sound off in the comments below!
