As we count down the final months until the sequel to Breath of the Wild is released, I thought it worthwhile to look back on the game that profoundly impacted the franchise. After putting over 300 hours into the 2017 smash hit, I finally started getting into glitches, an aspect of gaming I hadn’t enjoyed previously. As many have noted, the physics engine in Breath of the Wild is incredible and has allowed for years of discoveries as players continue to experiment.

I’m not into speed running; so for me, glitches that allow shortcuts aren’t really that interesting. I prefer to try glitches that change the gameplay experience. As such, some of my favorites are the fire and ice horse, weapon and arrow duplication, and moon jumping. I also enjoy wall clipping, as it’s fun to see what’s beyond the map and walls of the game.

I wish I was skilled enough to get those hard-to-reach treasure chests or to steal the Master Sword. Regardless, I’ll never get tired of watching the inventive ways in which people have broken this beloved game. I can’t help but wonder what lies in store when the sequel to Breath of the Wild is finally released.
