Everyone has been hyped up for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom since the first teaser that released at E3 Summer 2019. The hype continued when we got more footage late last year during a Nintendo Direct. As someone who has been playing video games for a very long time I know what it is like to get really excited for a game and then for it to be a total let down. (I’m looking at you Sonic the Hedgehog (2006)) So, what if Tears of the Kingdom is a let down for Zelda fans?

Before everyone comes after me in the comments, I do not believe that Tears of the Kingdom will be a let down. I just like exploring questions like this because it often makes for good debate. Over the last few years we’ve been holding Tears of the Kingdom to really high expectations with the hope that it will build on Breath of the Wild’s failures and successes. If it still has a breakable weapons system, lack of traditional dungeons, or a really lack-luster final boss will the make the game a let down? Maybe so, maybe not. It’s all a matter of opinion. Though I do have really high hopes for Tears of the Kingdom, but I also know that Nintendo cannot read my mind and know what I, and other gamers want. I’m sure during development Nintendo has considered all angles and are going to give us the game that fans will love just as much or more than Breath of the Wild. I can appreciate a game being delayed because they want to put more time and effort into it. On the flip side though, I can’t help but be a little anxious that as a community we’ve gotten our hopes up and that it won’t be as good as Breath of the Wild. Hype can do that sometimes I’m afraid. I’m confident that my fears are unfounded though. If the game is truly a let down, I will be shocked.

I’m always excited for new content and new news regarding the game. I am still as hyped as ever for Tears of the Kingdom and we are now less than four months away from its release! It has been one of the most anticipated video games for a long time, and I believe that it will live up to Breath of the Wild and build on the Hyrule that we first explored back in 2017. What do you think though? Are you still hyped? What if Tears of the Kingdom is a let down? Let us know in the comments below.
