I recently have been playing Skyward Sword HD for the very first time. I was not super familiar with the game, but I know that it was more traditional as far as Zelda games were concerned in comparison to Breath of the Wild. Skyward Sword has all of the major tropes popular in Zelda games, dungeons, puzzles, mini-games, escort missions, and more. One thing I was not prepared for was the nightmare inducing trials of the Silent Realm.

My first Silent Realm left me with my heart racing, I’m not sure how I finished it on the first try, but it was definitely stress inducing. Knowing that I had to do it at least two more times was hard enough, and then finding out that there was a fourth, and final Silent Realm made me groan. The Silent Realms were in a word, stressful. I have extreme anxiety and the music from being chased in the Silent Realms really set me off. It made my playing really sloppy because I was so stressed to finish before 90 seconds were up. I found myself standing in Waking Water one too many times too. There was just something about it that made me so nervous. I don’t know if it was the time, the music when you were spotted, or just the general feeling of fear. By the fourth one on Skyloft things were better, but I was happy to have those trials done. I can’t say that I enjoyed them, but I can’t say that I hated them either. I found them reminiscent of finding the Tears of Light in Twilight Princess, and even then I found this kind of quest a little annoying. At least in Twilight Princess I didn’t have to fear for my life.

What do you think of the Silent Realms? Have you played Skyward Sword HD yet? Let us know in the comments below!
