Daily Debate: What Did You Think of Today’s Nintendo Direct?
Posted on June 18 2024 by Kora Burton

In a surprise to everyone here at Zelda Dungeon, today’s Nintendo Direct featured several pieces of stellar The Legend of Zelda news we were not expecting. Not only was A Link to the Past and Four Swords released for Nintendo Switch Online today, but we also got some even bigger news: The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom has been announced for September 26 of this year, to be accompanied by the release of an official Hylian Crest Switch Lite. Not only that, but the main protagonist of Echoes of Wisdom will be Zelda herself!
I’d personally been feeling pretty cynical lately that we wouldn’t be getting any more 2D Zeldas, and never in a million years would we get a playable Princess Zelda — but today I was proven wrong on both counts, and I couldn’t be happier! So much about the trailer for Echoes of Wisdom excited me, from the Link’s Awakening (2019) art style to the lush game design and the magical elements.
So, what did you think of today’s Direct? Did you expect to get so much Zelda news today? What was your reaction to the announcement of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom? What are you hoping for most from a playable Zelda experience? Let us know your thoughts and reaction to today’s Direct down below!
