In what felt like the first bit of Zelda news in absolutely forever, Nintendo announced today that the indy rhythm Zelda spinoff game Cadence of Hyrule was getting some new DLC headed its way. While it had previously had some tweaks before with adding Octavio as a playable character, today’s announcements during the Nintendo Direct Mini seemed quite a bit more substantial. Three DLC packs including 39 new songs, 5 new playable characters, and a brand new map and story featuring Skull Kid were all part of today’s show, with a physical version of the game filling out a spot in Nintendo’s Fall lineup.

Of course, this isn’t a free update; all of this is paid DLC, which seems totally fair in my books considering all the new content. Cadence of Hyrule seemed to fly under the radar for a lot of Zelda fans, maybe due to the nature of its rhythm based gameplay, or maybe since it’s living in the shadow of the oft talked about but rarely seen Breath of the Wild sequel. Maybe it’s not the Zelda news everyone was hoping for, but I thought all the announcements and the fact Cadence is still getting support a year after launch was pretty cool.

What do you guys think? Naysayers, has this convinced you to pick up Cadence and give it a try? Sound off in the comments below!
