Tingle, although a strange character, has had some importance in a few Zelda games. In The Wind Waker, Link frees him from jail and, in return, he assists Link with the Triforce Charts quest. And in Oracle of Ages, Tingle hands Link a chart which helps him navigate the Crescent Strait to reach Crescent Island. However, despite playing a vital role in certain quests in these titles, there are also moments in the series where Tingle’s presence acts a mere easter egg.

In Breath of the Wild, you can wear Tingle’s clothes and roam around as the man himself. However, the NPCs do not react well to your image and may even draw their weapon! While seeing Link dressed up as him is highly entertaining and a nice tribute, I feel Tingle should appear in Breath of the Wild 2. The last mainline games to feature Tingle were Spirit Tracks and Phantom Hourglass, though he is also a playable character in spin-offs Hyrule Warriors and Hyrule Warrior Legends. So, after all these years, it’s time Nintendo re-introduces this character properly!

There are plenty of small tributes and easter eggs dedicated to him, but Tingle is a classic character that deserves space in Breath of the Wild 2. He can serve as our cartographer and sell maps of the world, or even have side quests of his own. I imagine him riding in a red hot-air balloon, drawing maps of islands he observes, and mentioning the prospect of treasure or Shrines. Although Breath of the Wild is supposed to be a new take on Zelda games, encountering traditional characters like Tingle can act as a nice homage to the old games.

Therefore, Tingle should no longer be a slight tingling sensation in Zelda games; he should make the grand return he deserves! What do you think? Should Tingle appear in Breath of the Wild 2? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
