With the approach of Nintendo’s E3, I couldn’t help but think about a conversation I had the other day with a friend. We discussed how The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is our favorite game, and then the inevitable question arose: should there be a remake for the Nintendo Switch, or even the highly-rumored Switch Pro? “Can you imagine Ocarina of Time with high-definition, realistic graphics?” they asked me. Of course, a friendly debate sparked.

Yes, I can imagine an Ocarina of Time remake with all the bells and whistles and the most outstanding graphics. However, this is probably an unpopular opinion but, we don’t need it. With its multiple rereleases and remasters, it’s time to put the game to rest. Give it the hundred-year sleep it needs, and let’s focus on other Zelda games that deserve the attention and remakes, such as the Oracle games and Minish Cap (my personal choices, honestly). Nintendo has so many options to chose from that remaking Ocarina of Time would be playing it safe due to its popularity.

If we have Ocarina of Time ported onto the Switch, then I will happily accept that! But rebuilding the game from the ground up with high-definition graphics? It’s the last thing I want from Nintendo and one that I don’t even picture them doing. In our debate, my friend and I agreed to disagree.

Where do you stand? Would you like to see a remake of Ocarina of Time? What would your ideal port for the Switch include? Let us know in the comments!
