Daily Debate: Should There Be A Children’s Book Based On The Zelda Series?
Posted on April 03 2020 by Heather Beard
My husband and I are currently expecting our first child and although we don’t plan to name our child after the legendary hero and princess, we do plan on introducing them to the Zelda series as they get older. I’ve been accumulating a small collection of children’s books, and I realized that there was not a children’s book for The Legend of Zelda. I think that should change.
The Legend of Zelda has been around since before I was born, but the series is iconic. The story is set in a world of fantasy and it would make a very great children’s picture book. The characters could be drawn in a softer light, with bright colors, and parents who are fans of the series could rejoice because their small child could learn about the hero long before their tiny fingers gripped a controller. The only Zelda books I’m aware of are The Goddess Collection and the manga series. I wish there were more, especially for younger children. This may be the musings of a hopeful mom-to-be, but I’d love to see a Zelda picture book some day.
What do you think? Should The Legend of Zelda be adapted into a children’s picture book? Would your child read it? Sound off in the comments below!
Hi I’m Heather! I’m Senior Editor and Art Director at Zelda Dungeon and I’ve been a member of the ZD team since 2019. I am a graphic designer, artist, and nerdy mom to an awesome little boy. When my nose isn’t in a book, working on my novel or watching anime you can find me curled up with my cats Mandy-Lynn and Daisy Mae.
