The Magic Meter is a recurring element in the Zelda series, granting Link special abilities that made gameplay feel so much more exciting.  It made its first rather basic appearance in The Adventure of Link but became more of a staple in later 3D games, with its final appearance in The Wind Waker.  I’ve often wondered why the Magic Meter wasn’t carried over to Twilight Princess, especially because it seemed like such a natural part of the series during the N64 and GameCube era.  I particularly enjoyed its presence in the games and so I wonder, should the Magic Meter return in Breath of the Wild 2?

Let’s argue in favor of the Magic Meter.  First of all, it just feels right to see that little green bar at the top-left of your screen.  But nostalgia aside, this feature actually formed an interesting part of Link’s quest in previous games, especially when it involved the Great Fairies.  The Spin Attack and other rewards like Din’s Fire, Nayru’s Love and Farore’s Wind were fantastic inclusions to Ocarina of Time and tied in so well with the requirement of the Magic Meter.  It was utilized just as well in Majora’s Mask considering that it was tied to Zora, Goron and Deku Link’s special abilities too.  Just imagine what could be possible if magic were to be included in the next Zelda installment!

But how can we argue against the Magic Meter?  Perhaps, when it runs out, it’s a little annoying to top it back up?  Maybe you’d say that the Sheikah Slate negates the need for magic?  Or maybe, if the Magic Meter makes a return, the Stamina Wheel could become unnecessary?  If I’m completely honest, I’d say that’s more of an improvement than anything else!  When all is said and done, I know I definitely want to see the Magic Meter make an appearance sometime soon.

So, how about you?  Would you like to see the Magic Meter return in Breath of the Wild 2?  Let us know in the comments below!
