We were all blown away when The Wall Street Journal published a rumor that there was a Netflix series in development centered around the Zelda franchise. It wasn’t long after when Iwata went on record as saying those rumors were not based on correct information.

While his statement has been interpreted different ways, there is no denying the untrue rumors gathered interest from TV fans all over the world. Should Nintendo pursue a Zelda Netflix series after all, even though they never planned to from the beginning?

Some would say yes. Other Netflix-exclusive shows such as Daredevil garnered much popularity and gained some pretty impressive revenue for the Marvel company. In fact, the show became so popular that it is now the second most pirated series on Netflix. We’ve seen the attention for Nintendo that was created by one small rumor, so how much attention would an actual bona fide announcement draw in?

However, there is always the danger of the series failing miserably. It could follow the path of the old Zelda animated series, which is only known today for its corny line, “well excuuuuse me, princess!” I trust Nintendo with my video games, but I’m not sure they’re the greatest TV show producers.

I would rather they partner with corporations such as Marvel or Pixar. Knowning Nintendo, they would probably partner with… Sony. After all, Sony has wanted to make movies with Nintendo for a long time now.

Now it’s time to hear your voice. Would you still like to see Nintendo release a Netflix-exclusive series in the kingdom of Hyrule, or are you against the idea? Maybe you would like Nintendo to release a Zelda-themed TV show instead that is accessible on regular TV than on Netflix. Whatever the case, share your thoughts by joining the Daily Debate below!
