Nintendo Switch Online’s catalog of classic Nintendo 64, SNES, and NES games is an expansive and impressive list, including games like Ocarina of Time, Mario Kart 64, Earthbound Beginnings, Banjo-Kazooie, and the recently added Majora’s Mask. While the opportunity to revisit these classics on a modern console is certainly welcome, I can’t help but wonder why the 3DS remakes of both Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask haven’t been ported over yet.

The Nintendo DS and its subsequent iterations (DS Lite, DSi, 3DS, etc.) were powerhouse consoles for Nintendo that were hugely successful, and for many years, the DS and all of its versions were my go-to console. It was a great way to make road trips and airplane rides seem far less long, and the Nintendo DS ended up having a ton of great games in its library by the end of its lifespan. The remakes for both Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask offered several, quality-of-life upgrades and features and improved graphics while maintaining the spirit and charms of the originals. In my opinion, they established themselves as the definitive way to experience these games. If Nintendo wanted to add DS games to the Nintendo Switch Online catalog, I could see Ocarina of Time 3D and Majora’s Mask 3D serving as the flagship ports. What do you think? Should Nintendo port 3DS games like Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask to the Nintendo Switch Online service? Let us know in the comments!
