Almost all of us have heard of the new Legend of Zelda Netflix TV series being developed. It’s obvious a spin-off movie using the same actors and storyline is possible as well. Who could produce such a movie, let alone produce it well? While discussing a Disney/Zelda affiliation with the other Zelda Informer staff members, most us agreed that Disney should leave Zelda alone.

Alas, there was one staff member who actually entertained this idea. Paul, the creator of the Hey, Look, Listen: Analyzing Handholding audits had this to say on the subject:

“Consider the fact that since Disney purchased Marvel for roughly $4 billion in 2009, the Marvel universe as a collective franchise has exploded in popularity, due in no small part to a series of blockbuster films financed by Disney. I wouldn’t call myself a fan of comic books, let alone the movies staring Thor and Captain America and Iron Man and all the rest, but these movies seem to have been very well-received by fans and mainstream audiences alike. Disney’s name might not be prominently placed on Marvel stuff, but they are instrumental in the production of these films.”

I believe it is safe to say that everyone reading this has seen at least one Disney movie, or at least a movie where Disney helped with the development. It’s no question that the name Disney stands out in the production of any movie/TV show/video game, and they have pumped out some record-breaking blockbusters. To some, when they think of a big movie producing company, they think Disney. Could Disney’s imaginative and creative minds develop a Zelda movie in the right way?

Let’s take a look at Disney’s Guardian’s of the Galaxy. Yes, Marvel produced this movie, but Marvel is owned by Disney. For the sake of argument, Marvel is Disney. Chris Pratt, the lead role in this particular film, thought this movie was going to bomb. He thought it was going to be the end of his career, and that Disney was making a huge mistake. An action movie such as this with talking animals could never make the big bucks, supposedly. Yet, it did. Disney yet again pulled it off. A supposed box office bomb became one of the most successful record-breaking movies of 2014, thanks to Disney’s innovative minds.

What do you think? Could Disney, in conjunction with Nintendo, somehow produce a halfway decent movie based on The Legend of Zelda? Would it completely bomb, or would it make box office history? This is for you to decide.
