Breath of the Wild introduced some really cool elements, like gathering ingredients for cooking food, and mining ore for jewellery-making or selling.  It also introduced the issue of content which was weapon durability.  These inclusions added some spice to the typical Zelda game and I’ve been wondering how Nintendo plan to top themselves in the upcoming sequel.  After some thought, I believe the perfect way to do this is to allow players to craft their own weapons.  We’ve seen something similar in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, but in contrast to the services provided by the Hylian Blacksmith Guild, I’m talking about Link physically doing the crafting himself.

What would this mean for weapon durability as originally seen in Breath of the Wild?  Well, I’m not an advocate for that entire process, so I’d say just get rid of it.  In its place, the player can utilize the gathering of ore to physically craft their own weapon with unlimited durability.  Of course, this would mean that mining ore would need to become more difficult so that the reward becomes so much sweeter.  Perhaps certain ore deposits would become more scarce or harder to reach?  And then there is the crafting side of things.  Link would need to access a blacksmithing workshop, so that in itself may require build-work at his homestead.  Then he would need to develop his skills in order to craft certain weapons, so a bit of training might be in order — Link the smithy’s apprentice?  When all of that is taken care of, Link could craft his very own swords, spears and other tools!  All-in-all, Nintendo could really make a huge deal out of the player being able to craft their own weapons, making it an integral part of the game and a longer-running side quest.

What do you think of this idea?  Should the player be able to craft their own weapon in Breath of the Wild 2?  Let us know in the comments below!
