From exploring the unique location of Koholint Island to collecting multiple musical instruments to wake up the Wind Fish, Link’s Awakening features a lot of unique ideas that are exclusive to the game. I adore Link’s Awakening for its many unique and exclusive features, including the quaint Animal Village. Home to a variety of small critters and anthropomorphic animals that assist Link throughout his quest, Animal Village is unlike any other village in the Zelda games, and has never reappeared since then.

What’s especially baffling is that Animal Village could have easily been included in Twilight Princess, a game that allows Link to transform into a wolf and speak with animals. It would have been a perfect fit! With that said, though, I think Animal Village could still be integrated into a future Zelda game. It could be a sanctuary for rare creatures or a refuge for animals in the wake of monster attacks or major destruction in Hyrule, and maybe Link could rescue injured animals and bring them to the village for a Piece of Heart (not unlike the bunny sidequest in Spirit Tracks). What do you think? Do you think Animal Village should make a return in a future Zelda game? Let us know in the comments!
