Daily Debate: Should a Future Zelda Game Feature a Resistance Group Like Twilight Princess?

At the time of its release in 2006, Twilight Princess was a departure from the cartoony graphics and light-heartedness of The Wind Waker, landing closer to Majora’s Mask with its tone and dark, mature storyline. In many respects this works to Twilight Princess‘ advantage, with Zant imprisoning Princess Zelda and Hyrule overtaken in the twilight, it allows for a unique opportunity to approach the story differently.
Most notably, Link allies himself with a group called The Resistance who are working to save Hyrule early on. Each member helps Link at different points throughout the story, and I really enjoy their inclusion in the narrative. It’s normal for Link to acquire new allies during his quest, but never was it done quite like this before. The Resistance is a group of normal people; they aren’t Sages or chosen Champions, and the distinction makes for a really compelling story.
Unfortunately, there hasn’t been a group of rebels or a resistance featured in another game since then, which is a bit of a shame (and come to think of it, how wasn’t there a resistance group in Breath of the Wild? What a missed opportunity!). I’d personally love to see a group of people come together for a noble cause and assist Link in a future game. It would show that while Link may be the chosen, he also isn’t the only one who cares about the fate of Hyrule. Other people will stand up and come together to fight for their home, too.
What do you think? Would you like to see a rebel or resistance group introduced again in a future Zelda game? Let us know in the comments!
