Is there really a best Zelda game? For the last 33 years gamers have been treated with one of the most well known series in gaming. We have evolved from the side-scrollers of the late 80s and now have entered an open world Hyrule, but does one game stand out among the rest? The short answer is, yes; there is a best Zelda game, but that’s up to everyone’s personal opinion. My best Zelda game is probably different from everyone else’s.

Now you might be wondering, “Well Heather, what do you think is the best Zelda game?” Allow me to answer that my fellow gamers; though it is still the newest in the series I honestly think (one) of the best is Breath of the Wild. I think it ranks up there because of re-playability, the expansive open world, the story, and because compared to every other Zelda game, it’s different.

I recently started my first master mode run for Breath of the Wild, and I made myself wait a year! Coming back to open world Hyrule a year later, I felt like I was playing the game for the first time again. The story still captivated me, the shrines and divine beasts still puzzled me, and it still felt different. I took a completely different path from the first time that I played it, and despite it having a set main quest line, the way I played still felt unique to me. I know that there are other games in the series that give you some more liberty with how you play, but as far as the order you do things in; it all seems pretty linear. That’s all my opinion though, ask me in a few months, and I’ll probably give you a different answer. I’m really fond of The Wind Waker too!

What are your thoughts? Is there a best Zelda game? What Zelda game do you think is the best? Sound off in the comments!
