In 2016, an anime called My Hero Academia exploded onto the scene. The show has continued to get better and better, and its popularity is justified by its great worldbuilding, likable characters, and engaging approach to the superhero genre. It’s quickly become one of my favorites. The superpowers — called Quirks — are creative and sometimes even strange. Ranging from the more standard powers often seen in American comic books like superhuman strength, to bizarre powers like Tape (it may sound stupid, but it has a surprising amount of utility), half the fun is seeing what unique Quirks everyone has. It’s a joy watching the characters develop their skills over time and the new ways they learn to use their Quirks. And because I don’t need much of an excuse to think of crossover ideas, it got me thinking of what Quirks Zelda characters might have.

For Link, I think the Manifest Quirk would be a good fit. In My Hero Academia, the Manifest Quirk used by Tamaki allows him to manifest the characteristics of whatever he eats — for example, he can manifest octopus tentacles if he eats takoyaki, or talons and wings if he eats chicken. Link has been known to have a voracious appetite throughout the series, so the Manifest Quirk would make sense. Plus, Breath of the Wild Link can eat some strange things — like Monster Extract mixed in cakes and curries — and it could allow him to manifest a variety of monster traits. Or if he consumes a Fairy Elixir, he could manifest their flight or healing ability.

For Zelda, I think the Quirk best suited for her would be Illusion. The Illusion Quirk used by Camie in the anime allows her to change her surroundings, or her physical appearance, for a short time. With Zelda’s history of using alter egos like Sheik to avoid Ganondorf, a Quirk like this would make a lot of sense, and being able to manipulate her surroundings could come in handy if used right. The possibilities are endless!

What do you think? If you could give a Zelda character a Quirk from My Hero Academia, what would it be? Let us know in the comments!
