Daily Debate: If You Could Design A New Mask, What Would It Be?

In my opinion, The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask is a real highlight of the series. It was interesting to collect different types of masks and use their powers for the greater good of Termina. Using the bunny hood certainly makes long treks without Epona a lot quicker, and making the Redead dance when wearing the Gibdo mask is useful! But what if you were asked by Nintendo to design a brand new mask?

Thinking about the color scheme and the magical power your mask would have is tricky. I’ve always wanted to see what it would be like if Link transformed into a dragon. Dragons crop up a fair bit in Japanese folklore and are considered as guardians too. My mask would transform Link into a gigantic, green dragon with blue fire. He could fly around taking in a “dragon’s eye view” of Hyrule, Breath of the Wild style. As a green dragon, his element would be an affinity to the earth and his presence would cause nearby flora and fauna to blossom rapidly. Admittedly, how to make this work as a worthwhile game mechanic would be a challenge, but fun nonetheless!

So, if you could design a new mask, what would it be? The mask doesn’t have to be an earth shattering power house, it could be part of a mini-game or an efficient skill that makes Link’s life easier.
