I’ll be the first to admit it—I am a heinously slow gamer. Breath of the Wild took me almost two years to beat, and I only had the satisfaction of watching the end credits for A Link to the Past on the Switch two weeks ago. But, how long is too long to complete a game?

While I firmly believe that there is no wrong way to enjoy games, there is an enormous amount of pressure to beat a title mere days after its release. The Internet is a minefield teeming with spoilers before a game even launches. Chatty and well-meaning friends can also inadvertently giveaway the plot. Plus, being unable to take part in lively discussions because you’re the one person who hasn’t seen the credits can be disappointing.

Still, I persist on my leisurely path. I enjoy taking my time, looking for details and story elements my companions may have missed rushing to the finish line.

How about you? Does speedrunning through a new title get your heart racing? Or do you prefer to take in all the sights and sounds you can? Remember, there are no wrong answers! Let us know in the comments below!
