One of the most exciting moments at the February 2023 Nintendo Direct was the announcement of Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance games for the Nintendo Switch’s online service. The Game Boy and Game Boy Color games are (or will be) available with the regular online subscription while the Game Boy Advance games are available with the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack. It is very exciting that a major portion of Nintendo Switch owners will have access to the underdiscussed Oracles of Ages and Oracles of Seasons, as well as The Minish Cap.

While this is great news for many fans who have gotten the chance to play the original games, some fans have been hoping for some type of remaster or remake of either the Oracle games or The Minish Cap for the past few years. Some people would like to see remakes in an art style similar to the Link’s Awakening remake on the Nintendo Switch.

With this in mind, do you think that the release of the Oracle games and The Minish Cap on Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack lessen the possibility of those games getting remade?

Overall, it feels like the release of the Oracles games and The Minish Cap on Nintendo Switch Online closes the doors on any chances of receiving remakes of the Oracle games or The Minish Cap in the near future. When the Link’s Awakening remake was released on Nintendo Switch, the original Game Boy classic was not available on the console. Besides a special situation with landmark titles like Ocarina of Time or Majora’s Mask, it seems unlikely that Nintendo would develop ports of games that are already available on their online service. My hope is that the Oracle games are remade and packaged as a bundle at some point in the next few years, but I feel like there is only a faint chance of that actually happening.

What do you think? Does the addition of the Oracle games and The Minish Cap to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack lessen the possibility of those games getting remade? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
