Many Zelda game endings are pretty ambiguous. Twilight Princess, The Wind Waker, and Majora’s Mask all feature endings that are satisfying and resolve the immediate conflict, but also leave things pretty open ended, too. It’s a tactic that works well for these games and I don’t usually find myself wishing for more from the ending.

But an instance where I felt I wanted a little bit more closure and resolution was Breath of the Wild. The ending doesn’t expand much beyond defeating Calamity Ganon and the spirits of the Champions and Zelda’s father passing on in peace. Though if you unlocked all of the Recovered Memories, there’s an additional scene with Princess Zelda. It’s a nice scene, and it certainly paves the way for the future (and sequel!).

But I can’t help but want just a little more closure. For example, I would have loved to see Zelda reunite with Impa, which would have paralleled their reunion in Skyward Sword beautifully. Or maybe see the early stages of Hyrule Castle being rebuilt to its former glory. Little touches like that would have added some resolution while still keeping things open for the sequel.

But what do you think? Was Breath of the Wild‘s ending satisfying or did you want more closure? Let us know in the comments!
