A few years ago, a friend of mine got me a Zelda glass set for my birthday. A few weeks after, she asked me if I had used the cups yet. I said, “Nope! They’re sitting on my Zelda collection shelf. They look awesome!” As she isn’t a Zelda fan, nor does she really collect things, she was kind of sad with my answer. I tried to explain that I didn’t want to ruin or lose them, that they really fit into my Zelda merch collection quite well, but wound up using them in the end to make her feel happy.

So then I wondered, are other Zelda fans like me, where they display their merchandise as a collection, or do they actually use the merchandise they come across? I can see it from both sides. Take the Zelda amiibo for example. A lot of people want to use them to reap the benefits they might have in games they are compatible with. But then others might want to keep them in their original condition, refusing to take them out of their boxes. It kind of just depends on how you are as a collector, I suppose. I personally don’t use the amiibo often, but I like how they look on my shelf outside their boxes. So perhaps I sit in the middle!

What about you, though? Do you use any of the Zelda merchandise you’ve collected? Or do you prefer to keep them from being ruined and lost, and display them as a collection? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
