After completing A Link to the Past, I found myself clamoring for more. As a kid, I would often dream of what happened to Link after the credits rolled. In my mind, his adventures continued, but with a far grander cast by his side. He had the help of his uncle, Princess Zelda, and many other NPC characters who I had grown to love during my many play throughs. I could’ve written books about it (and should’ve). Then came Link’s Awakening.

Link’s Awakening was a fantastic follow up game. Link continues his quest, now on the island of Koholint. We bond with the people, get to know the land. It was a solid adventure, but doomed to fail. Link faced one his toughest trial yet. Ever the selfless hero, Link sets aside his own feelings and desires and saves the day. But as a result, Link gets stranded out to sea. And that’s where we leave him. Alone. On a boat in the middle of the ocean. Can he still have that wonderful life I envisioned for him?

I’m an optimist who despises the darkest of time lines. I like to believe that Link found his way back to Hyrule and, after a period of sullen moodiness, recovers from his traumas. Perhaps then, the adventure will find him again.

Do you ever ponder the fate of your favorite Link?  If so, please let us know in the comments below.
