Daily Debate: Do You Consider Zelda II The Black Sheep of the Series?
Posted on September 04 2017 by Andy Spiteri
There probably aren’t very many people who would tell you that Zelda II: The Adventure of Link is their favorite Zelda title. In fact, there’s a good chance that far more people will tell you that it’s their least favorite Zelda title. It doesn’t help, getting sandwiched between the original NES Legend of Zelda and the amazing SNES sequel, A Link to the Past, but then, Zelda II was a strange game.
Gone was the open world exploration had made the original Zelda such a sensation. In place was a side-scrolling adventure more in line with Mario Bros. or Metroid. With the subsequent success of each Zelda game critically since, that has lead some to label The Adventure of Link as the ‘black sheep’ of the Zelda family.
Do you agree with that title? Or will you defend Zelda II with your last breath?! Let us know in the comments below!
