The Temple of Time appeared with its own dungeon in Twilight Princess, offering players the opportunity to explore its hidden chambers and mechanics. This was an unexpected feature in the game’s design, as there was never any hint that something strange lay hidden beyond the walls that housed the Master Sword in any of the other Zelda games, after all. I never thought I’d find myself asking whether or not people liked the Temple of Time having its own dungeon, yet, after discussing the matter with a friend, here I am.

For me, it’s not really a problem. I mean, Link enters a sleep in Ocarina of Time because he is not old enough to wield the Blade of Evil’s Bane, yet in other games like The Wind Waker and A Link to the Past, where Link is of a similar age, no such thing happens. What I’m getting at is that consistency doesn’t seem to be the writers’ primary goal here. Although to be fair, you can create excuses for the age issue like “the sword only needed the first Link after Skyward Sword to be of age.” Likewise, you can make an excuse for the dungeon, such as it not being necessary outside of Twilight Princess’ story, or that the dungeon was only constructed after Ocarina of Time, and only in the child timeline. It requires some leg work, but there are solutions to the “issue” nonetheless.

But what do you think? Does the Temple of Time having its own dungeon in only one game present a problem, or is it a minor issue? Is it even an issue at all? Let us know in the comments below!
