Daily Debate: Did Nintendo Deliver to Your Liking in Today’s Direct?
Posted on September 14 2023 by Josh Wittmershaus

I continue to find myself excited for each Nintendo Direct, even when the chances of significant Zelda news are slim. Today’s Direct had an interesting tone to it in my opinion, as it focused heavily on remakes and on games from consoles past being ported over to the Switch. The only Zelda news presented today specified the date we will have access to the Tears of the Kingdom Ganondorf and Zelda amiibo.
In general, though, my expectations for this Direct were met. They announced some interesting games coming to the Switch in the next six months, but nothing truly huge in comparison to games like Pikmin 4 and Tears of the Kingdom. In fact, other than Super Mario Bros. Wonder, there do not appear to be many brand-new games coming to the Switch. Rumors of Metroid Prime 4 and a new Donkey Kong Country are still just that — rumors.
I think that what Nintendo showed today was definitely intriguing, but it was what they didn’t show that is gathering more excitement. The lack of huge releases on the horizon may just indicate the coming of their next console.
What stood out to you during today’s Direct? What are you most excited for? What are you most disappointed by? Let’s hear your thoughts in the comments!
