The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom releases to the world on May 12th, and it comes as no surprise that several members of the Zelda Dungeon staff are taking the day off from school or their day jobs to play the game unimpeded. Some have had personal days on the books for months, while others simply plan to be “sick” next Friday. And we can’t possibly be the only ones out there taking the day off, right?

One of our staff members recently shared in our writers’ room that management at their day job put a limit on how many employees can the day off on May 12th, because too many people had called off already. I can’t imagine this staffer’s workplace is the only one experiencing that problem. Just as the release of Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace resulted in a $293 million USDĀ loss of productivity back in 1999, we think this new Zelda title has a chance to shock the workforce big next Friday.

Today’s Daily “Debate” may be less a debate and more a call for anecdotes, but we’d love to hear from everyone all the same. Are you taking the day off May 12th to play Tears of the Kingdom? Let us know in the comments! We promise not to tell your boss, teacher, or professor!
