I don’t know about you guys, but sometimes I get kind of bored with the generic villains that we are presented with in The Legend of Zelda franchise. They’re typically A) Ganondorf, B)  a reincarnation of Ganon, or C) influenced by Ganon. Now this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, because Ganon has always been a main character. Doing away with him completely at this point wouldn’t be beneficial to the series, and we need those other villains to help break up any monotony.

But even so, I believe that at times the villains are a little underwhelming. They don’t tend to have very much back-story or a real reason for being evil other than typically being swayed by Ganon. Basically, not many of them have their own reasons for what they want, with the exception of Vaati, Majora and a few others. The villains tend to seem like they’re just different versions of previous characters without necessarily different motivations, and so they kind of blend together.

What do you guys think? Are the villains too generic and needing to be fleshed out? Or should they stay as they are and let Ganon remain as the main villain? Let us know in the comments below!
