Collection Spotlight: Majora’s Fan

100_4076 (2) Scaling it back once more, this week’s Collection Spotlight showcases Dylan and his collection of Zelda possessions. Dylan, like many fans, loves Majora’s Mask and considers it his favorite. It was his first exposure to the series and that has shaped his love for Zelda since. Small compared to other collections showcased in the past, Dylan’s collection resembles many of our own collections and shows the solid foundations where a future collection can build up.

My name is Dylan and I’m 17 years old. The first Zelda game that I ever played was Twilight Princess when I was in the sixth grade. Upon playing it for countless hours, and finally finishing it, I started trying to get into the other games to see what they were like. Now I’m a huge fan of the series. One of my favorite games of all time is Majora’s Mask. I own both poster sets from Club Nintendo and every single Zelda game released to date excluding the handheld games. I also have a wallet that has the royal crest on it.

My collection isn’t very big at the moment but I’m still collecting. My favorite item that I own is either my sealed copy of Majora’s Mask or my Ocarina of Time gold cartridge. I found the Majora’s Mask game on eBay a couple years ago, and I had to get it because it was so cheap. Last year, I found the Ocarina of Time gold cartridge at a used-game store. The cashier said that whenever the store gets one of those golden cartridges, they never last for more than an hour on the selves.

Something that I would love to own one day, and will probably start saving up for, is a Majora’s Mask replica. It would look fantastic hanging in the empty space on my wall above where I keep my three Club Nintendo posters.

Weekly Collection Selection:

This week’s Collection Selection is a little different. Instead of looking through eBay, I explored a number of different sites. First up is a kickstarter project where donors can receive replica Majora’s Masks. While the completed masks are unavailable, there are still a couple of unpainted masks that can be owned. To read up on a previous Zelda Dungeon article on this, click here. Hurry while this project is still live!

Next, for those who are of the do-it-yourself persuasion, here is an intensive instructables that explains how you can create your very own mask. I have bookmarked this link because once summer starts for me, I’m going to try my hand at creating a mask. Maybe I will take some pictures or an instructional video that shows my progress!

Lastly, for those who do not have the time nor patience to create a custom mask, many sellers on Etsy have created a variety of masks to own. Check it out here.

These are just a couple of the many available. While the homemade custom mask would probably be the cheapest to own, these other options are finished and represent such beautiful replicas. Happy hunting, I hope you find an addition that makes your collection even more unique.

In closing I ask, would you like to see your collection spotlighted on the website? Do you want to share how you got into Zelda and show off the items you are proud of owning?

Send me an email at tyler@zeldadungeon.net. Include some pictures, a little background on who you are, how you got into Zelda, your first Zelda game, a listing of the items you have now, what you hope to own in the future, and your favorite item.

Please do not be frightened or discouraged when you see these showcases. I’m receiving emails from collectors who are hesitant to have their collections featured even though they are quite good.

Also feel free to comment on whatever you like. A personal favorite of mine was Dylan’s love of Majora’s Mask, how about you? What type of items would you like to see in the Weekly Collection Selection? List it below and I will attempt to find it for sale!
