Not too long ago, the Japanese eShop received a new app for the 3DS called Collectible Badge Center. This free-to-download title features crane-like mini games where you can win different badges based on characters or items from popular Nintendo franchises. These badges can then be applied to your 3DS’ home screen to add a little flair to your handheld.
Most of the badges available so far are from either Animal Crossing: New Leaf or from the various Mario games, though It doesn’t look like it’ll end there. If we take a look at the Introduction Video for the game posted by Nintendo, specifically during the 2:55 mark, we can see a familiar face hiding amongst the crowd. Link, appearing as he does in A Link Between Worlds when he’s merged to a wall, seems to be the only Legend of Zelda badge in the entire image.
Although none have been released thus far, it does hint at the possibility of Zelda badges being unlockable at some point in the future. Seeing as how the app is centered around the 3DS and its home screen, all badges at the time being are from games in some way available on Nintendo’s handheld. Because of this, we can expect any Zelda related badges to come from A Link Between Worlds, Ocarina of Time 3D or any of the 3DS Virtual Console releases. Heck, maybe we’ll even get to see some Majora’s Mask 3D related badges at some point.
What do you guys think? Are you hoping to see this app released in the West? If so, what are some of the badges you’d like to see make an appearance? Let us know in the comments below!
